A guide to how Set for Life works: the nightly seven-from-44 draw, the seven prize divisions, and how a Division 1 prize paid monthly over 20 years differs from the lump sums other games offer.
Set for Life is a national lottery game drawn every night of the year. Two things make it different from other Australian lottery games. The top two prizes arrive as monthly payments rather than one lump sum, and a single ticket covers seven consecutive nightly draws.
Seven winning numbers and two supplementary numbers are drawn from a single barrel of 44 numbers. To win Division 1, a single game needs to match all seven winning numbers.
The draw is national, but the operator depends on where you live. In New South Wales, the ACT, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory, Set for Life is sold under The Lott. In Western Australia it is run by Lotterywest, a government-owned operator. The operators pool entries and prize money together, so it is a single draw either way.
How to play Set for Life
A standard game means picking seven numbers from 1 to 44.
- 1 Choose how to play A QuickPick generates your numbers at random. A Marked entry lets you choose them yourself.
- 2 Pick 7 numbers From 1 to 44 in a single game panel, or use the autofill option.
- 3 Check every night Your numbers go into seven consecutive draws. All 7 winning numbers wins Division 1. Three winning numbers plus 1 supplementary wins Division 8.
One ticket covers seven nights, so your numbers are checked against seven separate draws. If a single game matches more than one division, only the highest one is paid.
Ticket prices and entry types
Set for Life is priced per game, per draw, and one ticket covers all seven nights. A Standard QuickPick, for example, covers 14 games across the week, which is two games each night. Prices are not identical across the country. Lotterywest sets its own prices and package sizes in Western Australia, retail outlets add a commission, and resellers charge above the official price. Check the current price with the operator in your state before you buy.
Standard entry (QuickPick or Marked)
A QuickPick generates your numbers at random. A Marked entry lets you pick your own numbers and choose how many games to play. You can mark up to 4 games on a coupon in-store, or play up to 50 games online. In Western Australia the QuickPick equivalent is called Slikpik.
Advance, Multi-week and Subscription entries
These let you enter ahead of time. An Advance entry books a future draw. A Multi-week entry covers several consecutive seven-day tickets. A Subscription enters every draw automatically and can be paused or cancelled at any time. Availability differs between operators and is limited in the lead-up to the September 2026 changes, so check what your state offers.
Unlike other national games, Set for Life does not offer System, Pick or PowerHit-style entries, and syndicates are not part of the game.
Price changes by entry type
Prices rise from 8 September 2026 to fund the larger Division 1 and 2 prizes. The table below shows the change for tickets bought through The Lott, covering all seven days. Lotterywest sets its own prices in Western Australia.

Draw schedule and times
Set for Life is drawn every night of the week, all year round.
- Ticket cut-off
- 9:00pm AEST every night through The Lott, which is 10:00pm AEDT during daylight saving and 8:30pm ACST in South Australia and the Northern Territory. In Western Australia, entries close at 6:25pm AWST online through Lotterywest, and in-store sales close at 7:00pm AWST.
- Draw time
- Shortly after sales close. Lotterywest lists the draw at approximately 7:00pm AWST.
- Results on television
- In Western Australia, winning numbers screen at about 8:30pm AWST on Seven and 7Live. Draws can also be watched on the Lotterywest YouTube channel.
- Results online
- Published on this page once each nightly draw is finalised.
- Monthly payment date
- Division 1 and Division 2 instalments are paid on the 15th of each month.
Prize divisions and odds
Set for Life has eight prize divisions. The top two are paid in monthly instalments over time. Divisions 3 to 8 work like a normal lottery game and pay a one-off amount that changes from draw to draw.

Each division gets a set share of the prize pool. That means the amount paid out depends on how many entries were sold and how many people won that division that night.
How the Division 1 and 2 prizes work
Payments are made on the 15th of each month. Both prizes are guaranteed for up to four winners in a draw. If five or more entries win the same division, the total prize pool is divided evenly between them and paid in the same monthly instalments, which means each winner receives less than the advertised amount.
Changes from September 2026
Set for Life is being updated nationally. Both top prizes gain an upfront lump sum on top of the existing monthly instalments.

How to check your ticket
- Online Results are published here after each nightly draw is finalised.
- In-store Use the self-service checker or ask the retailer at the counter. Smaller prizes can often be paid out on the spot.
- By email If you have an online account, you can turn on results emails in your account settings.
- Through the app The Lott app and the Lotterywest app let you scan tickets bought in-store.
Because one ticket covers seven nights, it is worth checking each night rather than only once at the end of the week.
