A guide to how the Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot works: a series of 230,000 unique ticket numbers with no numbers to select, twelve prize levels, and a jackpot that carries forward until one specific ticket takes it.
Mega Jackpot is the bigger-prize side of Lucky Lotteries. Like its companion game, it is a raffle rather than a number-picking lottery: you are allocated unique ticket numbers instead of choosing them, and since no two entries share a number, any prize you win belongs to you outright.
What sets Mega Jackpot apart is scale. Its pool is smaller, at 200,000 numbers, which shortens the odds of winning something, and every draw carries a guaranteed $200,000 first prize on top of more than 10,000 prizes overall. It is available under The Lott in every state except Western Australia, where Lotterywest does not run it. The lower-priced alternative is Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot.
Draws are not tied to a day of the week. Each one runs only after all 200,000 tickets have sold, so the date shifts depending on how quickly a draw fills, and your entry goes into whichever draw is currently open.
How Mega Jackpot works
Each game is decided by two draws. The first draw picks the winning ticket numbers for the cash prizes and consolation prizes. The second draw decides the jackpot: if the number it produces also won a cash prize in the first draw, the jackpot is won. If not, the jackpot rolls over and grows for the next draw.
Every game has 10 cash prize levels and 10 consolation prize levels, plus the jackpot. Consolation prizes go to numbers that land one either side of a first-draw winning number, which adds more ways to come away with something.
There is a guaranteed 1st prize of $200,000 in every draw, and the jackpot starts at a minimum of $1 million, growing each draw until it is won. Because the pool is smaller than Super Jackpot's, the odds of winning any prize are better.
Buying an entry
Mega Jackpot is $5.60 per number. You can buy in-store, online, or through The Lott app. When you buy, you decide three things: which draw to enter, whether your numbers are random or sequential, and how many numbers you want.
Random or sequential
Random numbers are scattered across the pool. Sequential numbers run in a block. Either way, you can play from 1 to 10 numbers per entry. The order does not change your odds.
Advance draws and subscriptions
You can enter a future draw ahead of time, or set up a subscription online so you are entered into every draw automatically. A subscription can be cancelled at any time.
