Where can I play Lotto Strike?

Only in New South Wales and the ACT, where it is run by NSW Lotteries. It is not available in other states or through Lotterywest in Western Australia.

Can I play Lotto Strike on its own?

No. It is an add-on that has to be attached to a Saturday Lotto or Weekday Windfall entry. You cannot buy it as a standalone ticket.

Does the order of the numbers matter?

Yes, and this is what makes Lotto Strike different from other games. Your numbers have to match the exact positions the first four balls were drawn in. Matching the right numbers in the wrong order does not win. A Boxed entry gets around this by covering every possible order.

What is a Boxed entry?

An entry that covers all 24 possible orders of your four numbers, so the order they are drawn in no longer matters. It costs more than a standard entry because it is playing 24 combinations rather than one.

Are Lotto Strike winnings taxed in Australia?

No. Lottery prizes in Australia are tax-free, so the amount you receive is the amount advertised. If you are not an Australian resident, it is worth checking how your own country treats the money.

What happens if nobody wins Division 1?

The Division 1 prize rolls over to the next draw and grows. It starts at $100,000 and can build up to a maximum of $2 million.

How do I claim a Lotto Strike prize?

Prizes on tickets bought online or through the app are paid into your account. For tickets bought in-store in NSW or the ACT, prizes up to $1,000 can be collected at a retail outlet, and up to $100,000 through Check my Ticket online. Anything above that needs a Prize Claim Form and is claimed through the NSW Lotteries head office.

When do Division 1 winners get paid?

Not straight away. Division 1 prizes go through a two-week provisional period after the draw before payment is made. Once that period passes, the money is transferred to the winner's account or paid out through the claim process.

How old do I have to be to play?

You must be at least 18 to play in New South Wales and the ACT.

How to play Lotto Strike

A standard game means picking four numbers from 1 to 45 and placing them in the order you think they will be drawn.

1 Buy a Lotto entry Lotto Strike attaches to a Saturday Lotto or Weekday Windfall entry. It cannot be played on its own.
2 Pick 4 numbers in order From 1 to 45, in the order you expect them to come out, or use the autofill option.
3 Check the result All 4 in the exact order drawn wins Division 1. Just 1 in its correct position wins the smallest prize.

Position is what counts

Only numbers sitting in the same position as the draw win anything. Say the first four balls come out in this order:

Your numbers 12 7 34 41 Strike 2

All four numbers are correct, but only positions 1 and 4 line up, so this entry wins Strike 2 rather than Strike 4. There is no prize for matching numbers in the wrong position. A Boxed entry removes this problem by covering all 24 possible orders.

Ticket prices and entry types

Lotto Strike starts from around $1.15 for one game, on top of the cost of the Saturday Lotto or Weekday Windfall entry it is attached to. Retail outlets may add a commission, and resellers charge above the official price.

Standard entry (Marked)

You choose your four numbers and the order they go in, or have them generated for you. You can play up to 10 games by marking a coupon in-store, or up to 50 games online.

Boxed entry

Covers all 24 possible orders of your four numbers, so they can be drawn in any sequence within the first four balls and still win. Like a System entry, this raises the cost but gives more chances to win across divisions, and removes the need to guess the order.

Advance and Multi-week entries

These let you enter draws ahead of time. An Advance entry books a future draw up to 10 weeks out. A Multi-week entry covers up to 10 consecutive draws.

Draw schedule and times

Lotto Strike is drawn four nights a week, on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, alongside the Saturday Lotto and Weekday Windfall draws.

Ticket cut-off: 7:30pm AEST (8:30pm AEDT) on each draw night.
Draw time: Shortly after sales close, with the same draw as the attached Lotto game.
Results on television: Around 8:30pm AEST (9:30pm AEDT) on 7TWO and affiliated regional stations.
Results online: Published on this page once the draw is finalised.

Prize divisions and odds

Lotto Strike has four prize divisions, named Strike 1 to Strike 4. Each depends on how many of the first four numbers you match in their exact drawn position. The odds below are based on a single standard game.
