Oz Lotto Number Statistics and Draw Trends

These statistics count how often each Oz Lotto number has appeared across the draws in our database. Note that the number pool expanded from 45 to 47 in May 2022, so numbers 46 and 47 have had fewer opportunities to appear than the rest and will sit lower in any all-time frequency ranking for that reason alone. Each draw is an independent event.

One caveat applies to any all-time ranking of Oz Lotto numbers: 46 and 47 only entered the pool in May 2022 and have had far fewer chances to appear than the rest, so they sit low for reasons that have nothing to do with chance. Filtering to a recent period removes that distortion. Otherwise the ranking simply orders numbers by how often each has been drawn.

Every Oz Lotto draw contributes 21 pairs to this table, one for each possible combination of its seven main numbers. Across a few hundred draws that produces a long tail of pairs seen once or twice and a small group seen noticeably more often. The difference between them is not evidence of anything: with 1,081 possible pairs in a 47-number pool, an uneven spread is what randomness looks like.

Seven numbers out of 47 come up each Tuesday, putting the average gap between appearances at about seven draws. The numbers ranked highest below have gone considerably longer than that. It is worth being clear about what the ranking is not: no mechanism exists that makes an absent number more likely to return, and the pool is reset in full before every draw.
